Elsie Corinne Howell, 89 of Stuart passed away Monday, September 5, 2016 at Treasure Coast Hospice.
Born July 9, 1927 in Monesson, PA she was the daughter of Samuel P. and Albertine Compton Finley. She moved to Florida in 1960, residing in West Palm Beach from 1960 to 2015.
Elsie was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was a homemaker and had also worked in the Men’s Department at Sears in West Palm Beach.
Elsie was very proud to be a member in good standing of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was related to Rev. James Finley. Family history has the house where the Declaration of Independence was initially drafted belonging to the Finley family.
Elsie was also of the protestant faith and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Susie Howell; granddaughter, Ashley Howell; sisters, Sara Weaver, Doris Miller; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Howell.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Junior Howell and sister, Emma “Bonnie” Mills.
Memorial contributions in Elsie’s name may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997.
A Committal Service will be held at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth at a later date.
