Kelly Marie Sheffler (nee Kohn) of Palm City, Florida, formerly of Anna Maria Island, Florida, passed away, surrounded by family, on August 6, 2016 after a valiant fight with brain cancer. Kelly was 55 years old. She was the fifth child of six children of Adabelle Kohn Borsody (nee Froman), also known as Belle A. Borsody, and Lee Kohn. She enjoyed 32 years of marriage to her husband, Robert Jean Sheffler, Jr.

Kelly was born in Grand Blanc, Michigan on November 26, 1960. Her father died when she was 9 years old and her mother moved the family to Anna Maria Island, Florida where Kelly and her sister, Julie, grew up. Kelly attended Anna Maria Elementary School, Sugg Middle School, and was a 1978 Manatee High School graduate. After graduating from high school Kelly worked at Robby’s Sporting Goods in Bradenton, Florida. Kelly met the love of her life, Robert Jean Sheffler, Jr. a/k/a Robby Sheffler in Bradenton. They were married on June 16, 1984 and moved to Jensen Beach, Florida where Robby had attended Florida Institute of Technology. In 1991, Lauren Marie Sheffler came into their lives, soon followed by Sarah Lane Sheffler Sakal (William) in 1994. Kelly’s first grandchild, Grace Elizabeth Sakal, was born in 2015 and was the light of Kelly’s life. Kelly loved the water and boating and she, Robby and the girls went to the Keys every summer.

Kelly was a banker during much of her professional career working for Barnett Bank, American Pioneer Savings and Loan, a/k/a SeaCoast Bank, Stuart, Florida, and lastly, remotely, for First American Bank in North Carolina. In 2013 Kelly began her own consulting firm, KMS Marketing Intelligence, LLC training banks in the use of marketing software. Kelly was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Stuart, Florida where she served on the altar guild. When her daughter, Lauren, attended and graduated from the University of Miami, Kelly became an ardent fan of the Miami Hurricanes.

Kelly was preceeded in death by her father Lee Kohn, her mother Adabelle Kohn Borsody (a/k/a Belle A. Borsody), and step father Gerald Richard Borsody (a/k/a Jerry Borsody).

Kelly is survived by her beloved husband Robert Jean Sheffler Jr of Pam City, Florida, formerly of Bradenton, Florida, her daughters; Lauren Marie Sheffler of Palm City, Florida, and Sarah Lane Sheffler Sakal (William) of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, her granddaughter; Grace Elizabeth Sakal of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; her brothers and sisters Michael L. Kohn (Jacqueline) of Ellenton, Florida, Sharon Gleason of Jensen Beach, Forida, Timothy Kohn (Sula) of Coral City, Florida, Daniel Kohn (Colleen) of South Carolina, and Julie Kohn Bento (Arlan) of Jensen Beach, Florida, her nieces and nephews Tammie Kohn Hutchins of Palmetto, Florida, Cindy Perez of Palmetto, Florida, Brandon Kohn of Deleware, Kristen Kohn of Massachusetts, Jara Priest Allen (Delacey) of Lutz, Florida, Jill Priest Schoonmaker (Kyle) of Okeechobee, Florida, Trey Bento of Jensen Beach, Florida, George Bento of Jensen Beach, Florida, Kathryn Louise Douglas of Brooklyn, New York and Elizabeth Kirkland Douglas of Boston, Massachusetts.

A Memorial Service for Kelly will be announced in the near future.

An Interment Ceremony will be held at the St. Francis Garden at Christ Episcopal Church in Bradenton, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Contributions as a Memorial be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, Florida 34997.
